Register for the Official Walk for Mental Health Weeks ‘Walk for Awareness’ on Sunday, 9th of October 2016 supported by Smartline, and take part in 2016 Official Opening Celebrations. There is no required age or fitness level. Pets are encouraged as well. This is an opportunity for the community to come together to support each other, to break the silence on mental illness and to contribute to the funding of programs that are making a difference on the front line with mental health issues.

SPOT - SPEAK - SUPPORT

The morning begins with an inspiring opening ceremony, where we remember those lost to depression and mental illness and honour those continuing the battle. After a quick warm up and stretch, walkers will take off on an 8km walk around Brisbane’s winding river and beautiful scenery.

As you make your way towards the Finish Line, you’ll walk over Brisbane’s finest landmarks ‘The Story Bridge’, where you will be cheered on by onlooking supporters and finally greeted with high energy celebrations of your epic walk and amazing impact you’ve just made in the quest to raise awareness of depression and mental illness.

Walk for Awareness is an event that involves bringing people together in a friendly environment where the issues of mental health can be discussed openly with friends, family and supportive strangers. We believe the matters surrounding suicide should be discussed, not hidden.
